Is there any particular reason why manufacturers put anti-rotation features on the lower pins on a quick hitch? I have a Harbor Freight and a Lee Agra Farm Hand quick hitch and both of them have a feature that holds the pin stationary.
The hair pin clip hole is oriented vertically when the pin is engaged in the anti-rotation feature so I can understand that perhaps the designer wanted to lessen the opportunity for the clip to fall out if the pin was allowed to spin freely. Just seeing if there is some other reason for the anti-rotation feature.
Here's the reason I ask. I found out more or less by accident that the HF quick hitch came with 0.775" pins to go in the draft arms. These pins should be 0.875" (as they are on my U.S. made Lee Agra Farm Hand quick hitch) and I'm going to make some new 7/8" pins for the HF. I'll have to drill out the holes in the quick hitch frame to accommodate the larger pin diameter for the draft arms. The quickest and easiest fix would be to buy a set of Cat 1 lower pins and a couple of finger getter lynch pins and be done with it.
