I've got an M7040 bought used 6 months ago. I had a different M7040 5 years ago. I noticed this one the quick connects seemed longer. Well certain they are now.

Today a friend was using my tractor with a concrete mixer. When he raise the mixer, the top hydraulic cylinder (I've got TNT on this tractor) the cylinder collided with the quick connectors, and it crack it at the point it screws into the valve. Buy another adapter and it's an easy fix......BUT....I also had top link hydraulics on the earlier tractor and did not have this problem. I looked back a some old pictures, and although not 100% certain, I've fairly confident they where shorter.

So...this occurred once, it could and probably will occur again. I'm wondering if there is some type of flow control in the quick connect making it longer. Here is a picture of the connector on the tractor. The broken one is off, he'll be back tomorrow with an adapter so we can continue with our little project.

What kind of connector is this? Does it come apart at the red arrow? The yellow arrow points to the adapter that broke. The part between the arrows, best I can remember wasn't part of by earlier tractor with quick connects. Do I need to get different shorter ones? Not happy with how this has been done, and really want to change some of the 'bulk' of this things especially since this problem occurred. I also want to add quick connects to the side cylinder of the TNT set. On the side cylinder the hose screws directly to the valve....why I have no idea.

It looks like you have a adapter fitting between the valve and QD. Maybe an o-ring boss to a pipe thread. If you found a QD with the same thread as the valve you would not need the adapter and things would be shorter. Maybe you could come off the valve with 90* fittings and run some hoses to a QD bracket on the side some where out of the way. Do the same for the side link cylinder if you want QD's on it so it is removable. Nothing wrong with no QD's if you don't want to remove the side link. More hoses and connectors can make more bulk. So plan ahead to get it neat.
