I believe he is talking about the Power-Trac QD's on the mini-hoe. Those are NPT

Here are some pix of the two major types I run into on compacts. For users
of industrial equipment, there are other types, including brand-specific.

Not all QDs are marked, BTW. These are -8 size (1/2").

I have found that the standard ones that Tractor Supply stocks work just fine. They have a ball rather than a poppet. Take one of your fittings and try it at the store. If it joins up, it will work.

Poppets are supposed to allow more flow through the QD. Also, you are not to mix ball and poppet QD's.

A QD, one size larger that the hose is recommended, for instance, if using 3/8 in hose, you can use 1/2 in QD.

Yep. I've read all of those recommendations. I have no doubt that they are correct and will maximize performance. On the other hand, I needed to get a job done, and mixing the ball style with the poppet style and using 1/2" fittings on 1/2" hose worked well enough.

Still, the smart thing is to stick with the poppets. Someday I'll change them out.
