Questions on JD 25A Flail Parts etc.

Time to start the refresh of the new to me JD 25A.
New knives ordered. Mounting hardware seems to be in good condition. Extra parts ordered just in case.

One of the roller bearings is a little loose so I will replace both sides for good measure.
I can't make heads nor tails of the JD parts catalogue to get the bearings and holder.
I am waiting on Flail Master to send a price for the bearings I think are correct.
If I have the correct JD part number figured out the bearing and housing is about $120.
Would really like to find these cheaper if possible. Any suggestions where to look?

Going to have other questions such as how the top link attaches/functions but the manual will probably clear this up.
It also seems someone added a breather to the gearbox but the parts schematics do not show one that I can see. I think it may actually be just a pipe plug.

If anyone who has one of these wouldn't mind taking some pictures of the gear box from a few angles and how the shield attaches I'd be appreciative.
Here is how mine looks. I don't think the shield is original but not sure and you can see this "breather" thing!

Does your mower have the 4 bolt or 6 bolt housing flange? Does the housing have a gtease zerk? The beatings are about $20 ea online. It looks like the 6 bolt flange is only available through JD for $100. I rebuilt my 25A replacinh all bearings, and made an antiwrap mechanism to protect the bearings. I modeled the antiwrap off the one on my JD390 flail.

Now, on the flange you mention is that for the lower roller or the main rotor drive?

Rotor bearings are either 4 bolt or 6 bolt flange. Rear roller is 3 bolt flange. In all cases bearings are replaceable separate from flange.

The hex shaft bearings are p/n G207KPPB2 and run $30 ea. The rotor bearings are 611583R1 and run $20 ea.

Thank you. I think I will need the housing for the roller bearings also. One side was done but the other not so I'll do both so they are the same.

I'll keep looking on eBAy for the housings.
