In your opinion how many hours should show on a new kubota?

I would assume "0" or very close to it.

However, every new car (for example) has a few miles on it when you buy it.

Another way to ask this question is How many hours on a kubota before you consider it to be used?

In my searching for an M59 I'm finding some "new" units with 20-30 hours on them. I don't consider that to be new. Like new probably, new, no. Am I off base?

In my opinion, 2 to 3 hours is new. During final dealer assembly at the local dealer a mechanic could put that many hours on one. I got one that had 7 hours on it and I believe the mechanic had started it and maybe forgot it was running and maybe got called to some thing else.
Some lots will let costomers start one and maybe let it run, Again, it could have been started and forgotten and ran for awhile. Is it still new? It's sold as new and it's warranted as new and carrys new financing so is it new?
If it bothers you, ask for a different new one with no hours or 2 to 4 hours.
A cash discount of a couple hundred dollars would convince me that it"s new.:D

All the equipment that we have got had a few hours on it, dealer usually rotates equipment through the front line of show tractors and those are the ones that customers start and run back and forth to try out.

The only exception to this was my RTV 1100. Now we picked this up in August of the first year that they were out and this was the first one they sold. The owner told the shop and sales people not to put a lot of time on the machine but somebody spent 14 hours on making sure that the air conditioning worked properly, probably while having lunch or something

I'm guessing it's a technicality. If it's never been sold it's still new. But it may have been loaned out or used around the lot.

I've bought two new ones... one had 2.0 hours, one 0.8 hours. I think anything under 5 is probably pretty normal.

When I bought my 4630, it was a "Harvest Return" with about 60 hours on it.

The local dealer supplies the local vineyards new tractors each harvest season, then sells them at the end for a discount. There are usually a few dozen of these tractors each year.

At 60 hours, our tractor had a few scratches, but it had it's 50 hour service, and was sold with the full warranty.

It's very possible the dealer has loaned this tractor to a customer in need, used it in a parade, a demo's, etc. I would not be concerned about the hours as long as you were happy with the cosmetics on a "new" tractor. I figured it was a tractor -- and if it didn't have a scratch, it was gonna get one before long.
