Question on hooking up Danuser PHD downforce

Hi all,

I've got a TC 30 with a 7308 front end loader. I'm considering ordering a Danuser downforce kit for a recently purchased G20/40 but I'm not very experienced in tractor hydraulics. My current thinking is to connect the downforce hydraulic lines to the 7308 FEL quick connects (with the FEL off) and use the joystick to control the downforce. I haven't ordered the downforce kit yet, so I don't know if there's any sort of guide included - I'm just trying to figure things out before I order.

Any thoughts on this? Am I off in the weeds?

The downforce kit needs 2 hydraulic hoses to operate correctly. One hose goes to the back of the tractor remote and the other hose will go back to the return or sump (this connection cannot have any pressure). When you are ready to lower the auger, activate your rear hydraulic remote and the downforce kit will apply 500 lbs. of downforce to the auger point. When you want to raise the digger you have to shut off the hyd. remote and raise the digger. This will empty the oil in the cylinder back to your oil tank. So hyd. on when digger is being lowered, hyd. off when you raise the digger. The downforce cylinder is a one way cylinder and failure to shut off hyd. when raising will lead to damage.

I don't have a rear hydraulic remote on my TC30, and other than the PHD downforce kit I don't foresee needing rear remote hydraulics for anything. Are you saying the front hydraulics (controlled by the FEL joystick) won't work? I'd prefer to do that, since it will both save some money and allow control through the front joystick (which helps prevent an absent-minded person from trying to lift the digger while the hydraulics are still on

).

I'll figure out something with the return line. I'll probably have to hack up the fill cap as stated in another post - probably some PVC fitting, depending on the return line size.

Engineering said that you should be fine with the loader circuit. Some people have purchased an extra cap for the oil fill and drilled a hole to allow the hose to drain back through the cap (either seal or tape to keep foreign materials from mixing with your oil). Keep the orginal cap for when you are not using the downforce kit so the oil is not contaminated.
