I recall an earlier thread recommending installing bolt-on D-rings on the front part of the frame for chaining to when tieing the front of the tractor to the trailer.

Planned on doing that today, but wasn't sure of where to install the D-rings. Attaching a picture to see if I'm looking at the correct location (almost looks like a clevis could be installed). Comments/advice?

Clevis would be a good idea, also you could chain to your grill guard.

The fast and easy is the grille guard if your not too meticulious. Just run the chain from one side of the trailer, lace it up and down thru the grill guard (bottom frame) and binder it to the other side of the trailer. D-rings would put the chain tension/wear elsewhere but they'd be clanking around a little if you pin mounted them to the frame and left them. Unless you remove them each time. My dealer does the grille guard lace. That's how I intend to.

I bolted tow hooks on the grill guard of my L4330 so I could chain it down without scratching any paint. (see attachment)

I put hooks like what GeneD14 posted but I placed them on the frame where your picture shows.

I have only had to move my L3130 once so far and I just used the grill guard as the front tie down point and the drawbar as the rear point. As said, Going over the grill guard will scratch the paint, so some people probably won't want to do this. Like I said I have only moved it once and I don't have my own trailer for it yet so I borowed a truck and trailer from work to move it. Mack CH with a 35 ton lowbed. Looked really funny having my little tractor on an 18 wheeler, but it worked. Weight wise it felt like the trailer was empty.

The question is will that thing have enough power to drive it onto a trailer?

That depends on penokee's MSL where he lives, whether or not the tires are loaded and how fast he wants to drive it onto the trailer...

Good thing I wasn't drinking my coffee when I read that. I would have stained every paper on my desk. That was funny!
