I have only a very basic understanding of hydraulics. I two remotes, one with float. Can the float detent be used like a regular valve with detent to send fluid continuously to a motorized attachment like a Lane Shark? I would like to feed the Lane Shark via the float valve in detent and return fluid directly back to the sump (not back through the valve). Will this work?

No. I don't think so. The valve with float just has a provision for connecting the two ports together when fully pushed forward. The detent is just a seperate mechanical lock using ball bearings that locks the spool in that forward most position.

Our JD does have a provision on the remotes where you turn a knob on the valve, for hydraulic motor, and then the cable connected lever will lock on.

My Kubota has little flip over brackets that hold the AUX lever in the on position for continuous flow.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yea, I was afraid of that. I guess that I will resort to the "bungy cord detent" on the non-float spool when needed.

Been there and done that.

What is the make of the valve?...Have you checked to see if there is a detent kit available for the other spool?....

Duh, why didn't I think of that. :confused3:

Slash Pine, thanks for the suggestion. The valve is a Prince Wolverine and Surplus Center sells the detent kit. Unfortunately, out of stock at the moment. Will order when they get some more in.

May want to contact Prince Hydraulics to confirm that your valve will accept the detention kit. I am not sure if a different spool is required for detent feature.

FWIW...I have several of the Prince Wolverine series valves and the detent kit they (SC) sell works on any of them...

I primarily use it (the detent) on my thumb grapple valve when I'm using a remote hydraulic winch....but I have moved it to a rear two spool that also has a float spool...if the cap screws are easily accessible it takes two minutes to install or remove the detent kit...
