Having trouble removing nut to do blade sharpening. Could it be lefthand threaded? Tried counterclockwise with no luck. Can't find the info in the manual that I have. Thanks, Dave

They are right handed threads. The manual for your 42" deck says the nuts are torqued to 90-110 ft lbs. If this is the first time you've had to remove the nut you may need an impact wrench to remove them. C-clamp a block of wood inside the deck to stop the blade from turning. When you put them back on you some anti-seize on the threads. I uploaded the deck manual here 42in_deck772-4123b[1].pdf[1].pdf

Sometimes I have to use a wrench on the pulley to counter the force on the blade nut. If you haven't used anti-seize on the threads try spraying some PB blaster it may help.

i always have to use a wrench on the pulley. ive even had that almost not quite be sufficient. at 100 ft lbs your going to have to really put some arm into it if theyve never been off or if theres locktite on them.
