Question about hydraulic filter change on a 5105

I'm approaching 100 hours on my 5105 utility tractor. The 100 hour service includes an engine oil and filter change, and a hydraulic system filter change (without changing the hydraulic fluid). The hydraulic filter is mounted under the operator platform on the right side, and is an oil-filter type can about the size of a coffee can. Can anyone tell me how much hydraulic fluid I can expect to lose when I change this? I had been guessing it would only be what's in the filter itself, maybe a quart or two, but the parts guy at a JD dealer seemed to think I might have a continuous leak of the whole system while I had the filter off. Seems to me that would be a stupid design, but who knows. Would appreciate any experience and tips. I bought a gallon of JD hydraulic oil to be ready, but if I'm really going to lose lots I would like to know in advance.

Related question - is there anything to know about the oil change? It looks like it should be at least as simple as changing the oil on a car, but if there's any differences to know of, let me know!

When the hydro filter comes off, be ready with the new one as fluid will be flowing out. It's not a raging torrent but it's steady and somewhat messy.

I'd rather change the engine oil on my tractor than my car. Easier to do by far.

Hmmm... so I'm going to lose some hydro fluid anyway. Would it be any significant benefit to longevity if I change out the whole 8.5 gallons at this time? It's not spec'd til 250 hours.
