Question about B2150

Recently my 2150 developed a 2 part problem that I do not understand. Previously when I turned the key to off the engine would shut down. It no longer does that. So I can use the fuel cut off lever. But after pulling the fuel cut off lever (and resetting it) the tractor no longer wants to start. Really really hard to get it going again. My guess is these 2 events are related.

So I have 2 questions.

A) What do I need to fix to make it shut off with the key

B) What do I need to fix to make it start after the fuel shut off


Any ideas?

Jeff,
your keyswitch may be getting old. My 2150 switch is worn and I can take the key out while it is running. The former owner of mine may have had a big heavy key ring hanging on it. EBa- seems to have some on auction from time to time. The key switch is electric, the air shutoff is manual in nature. Not sure they are directly related, but my manual is down with my tractor.

So I figured it out, not too hard really. I was right, my two symptoms were really the same problem.

There is a fuel shutoff solenoid that the key activates. The solenoid closes a lever for a switch on (?) fuel pump I think. The manual pull lever will override the solenoid and also close the fuel switch lever.

My solenoid was frozen up and so electrically of course it did not work. Moreover when manual lever was used to stop the tractor and the manual lever was pushed back, there was enough stiction in the linkage around the frozen solenoid that the weak spring in the fuel switch could not overcome it initially and the solenoid was not functioning to positively return the fuel switch.
