Has anyone been able to find quart bottles of the new synthetic diesel oils (CK4)??? Here in NW Georgia and around Metro Atlanta, all I have been able to find is the gallon jugs. I like the quarts because they are easier to carry as spares. I assume the supply chain just hasn't caught up yet, but I have received several different explanations, none of which include "Yes Sir, we now have quarts in stock". - Thanks

You should be able to find in in any truck stop.

You are correct - I SHOULD be able to, but thus far, no dice. - that's why I'm asking. Thanks.

I have never tried to buy quarts/Litres up here. I only buy gallons and then transfer to quarts and relabel.

I really wasn't aware of a new spec in oil, but as far as size goes, I never buy anything other than gallons or larger sizes. I don't have diesel auto so no need to carry spare oil around. My autos use no oil between changes so again no need for quarts.
I have been using Shell Rotella T6 for all my engines and will likely continue as long as it is made for both gas and diesel engines. I use it in everything from lawn mower, boat, motorcycle, autos and tractors.

......My truck (07 Chevy 2500 Duramax diesel - approx 190,000 mi) uses some oil between oil changes. -Not a lot, but I like to carry spare oil. I can carry gallons, but quarts are more convenient. ........ Overall, not that big a deal, I was just wondering if anyone had luck with new quarts. - I guess not.

Who makes it? Sun now is marketing synthetic oil distillate made from natural gas. Not sure where they get it.

Exxon were considering making synthetic petroleum products from the big Indonesian gas field about the time I retired. Not sure how far that went. Cheaper to transport liquid fuels rather than have to refrigerate natural gas and transport under pressure.

This is the path to get cheaper synthetic oil.

Gallons of CK-4 are everywhere. Quarts? I have no clue. I only buy in gallons. I like the lower price of gallons and don't want a bunch of quart bottles around.

My guess is that Sun, or whoever, that is using a NG derived base oil is buying it from Shell. Much like any oil blender that wants to use a PAO in their product buys it from Mobil. No oil on the shelf is made from products manufactured exclusively by the company on the label.

How about this alternative. Save your quarts from your truck's engine oil change if you use them, maybe buy that change in quarts to get the containers. Then take your gallon or 55 gal drum of diesel oil, fill the quarts you want to take and try that. A little trouble but if you need quarts, that's a way to get them.
