Purposeful Post, No, but Kubota Nicknames

Since I ordered my tractor last weekend, I've been telling my kids that Daddy bought a pumpkin, can't wait to get his pumpkin, and try his pumpkin out. If you're not familiar KTM dirtbikes are referred to as pumpkins, of course because they are orange, so I just stole the term from there. I like it, so I think it might stick. Does anybody else have a nickname they use for their beloved Kubota?

Pumpkin eh? Reminds me of a post I wrote on RMD about 5 years ago, since I have a 'Ride Red' family...

The first time my Dad tried to mow the front yard with his BX2200 he dug up a good chunk of lawn with the FEL. Since then it has been known as "Digger"!

I usually call mine, in order of frequency: the tractor (no stealing this one, I came up with it first!), the 'bota (equally original, no?), the tree-bota because that's all it does; and because I have a GMC General log truck, we sometimes call her Captain Kubota or just "the Captain". Sometimes I just call her "good girl", as I rub her nose after a long day and tuck her in, but basically I just call her the single best thing I have ever bought in my whole life. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got a four year old boy who has been way into Thomas the Tank Engine (the love affair is slowly waning). Terrence is a bright orange tractor on Thomas the Tank Engine, hence my Kubota's name is Terrence. BTW the entire family's cars are named after Thomas characters according to color.

Have 9 & 4 year old grandsons. When the 9 year old was 4 we found Thomas videos then we got a couple of Tomica World Thomas train sets & set it up on a 6'X8' table. The table has cutouts so the boys can crawl under & come up in the middle to reach all areas. All plastic w/battery operated engines. We must have 100' of track now and 50 engines/cars. Both boys spent hours assembling track layouts. We've been through a lot of batteries but worth the cost. Can't beat Thomas for children entertainment. being of the 60's generation I do get a kick out of voices of George Carlen & Ringo Starr narrating the videos. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Depending on what I'm doing with it, I may pass on the name that I gave my ATV when it was outfitted with a pump sprayer filled with Triox. My 'Ecological Assault Vehicle', or EAV for short /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

MY son's room is almost entirely Thomas themed. Thomas blue with shelves in James red, Henry Green, and Percy yellow. Have a Thomas table set up for his wooden Thomas set (literally hundreds of cars stored in individual slots in bait boxes). Have a "Thomas race track" going down one wall- five alternating green/ red/ yellow trophy shelves which are attached by wooden ascending track and end in wooden buffers- shelves are wide enough for two track lines, so you can race your favorite engine/ cars against one another. Some days, the only semblance of sanity I have is comiung home and playing "Thomas" with my son and (now) two year old daugter. My son waned in his obsession recently (actually had me a little depressed), but he spent much of the day today trying to build his own track in his room- looked like a Thomas nuclear explosion in his room, but he was quietly entertaining himself and using his imagination- good stuff!!!
