New Holland TT55
I hope you guys can help me. I have reviewed threads about this problem but could find any that seemed to address my situation.

I have a TT55. During my last maintenance routine I changed the fuel filter and (following instructions in the manual) manually primed the fuel filter until I had no bubbles coming out the bleeder screw on top of the filter housing. The next day the tractor was very difficult to start. I traced the problem back to no fuel in the fuel filter. So I opened the bleed screw again, primed the filter, and then the tractor started right up.

The problem is after the tractor is shut off for a few hours all the fuel seems to drain back out of the filter and I have to go back through the purge process again to get the tractor to start.

There are no noticeable fuel leaks. Is there a check valve or something I should be looking at?

There's a check ball in the lift pump and my best guess is that fuel is leaking by. The lift pump is #504090935 and is $48.15 plus another $1.65 for the gasket. How long have you had the TT55 and is it still under warranty? Dan

If it wasn't doing it before, then it's something you just touched. Like the fuel filter.

Maybe the filter gasket isn't sealing ?

Thank you for those replies. I have had this tractor (my first) for about 2 1/2 years. I figured that what ever the problem it must have been something I did because it did not do this before I changed the filter. It is still under warranty but if the problem is that I did not put something back right it would not be covered. I wanted to find out before I called the dealer. The only things I touched was the fuel filter and the filter in the lift pump.

Check the bleeder screw. You may have not ceded it enough and it may be letting air in....Just a thought!;)

Did you put the same brand and # filter on that you took off. Some filters have a small rubber gasket that goes on the threaded stem. If it isn't installed it will let the filter bleed down. Or if it got left on when you removed the old filter and the new filter doesn't require it. Just some ideas.

I will check the bleeder screw. I would think all I would need to do is manually pump the lift pump and if the bleeder screw is not seated it should be leaking. As for the filter I did use the same brand and type as I removed.
I really appreciate all the input I have received on this. Thanks
