I've been lurking here initially to find info on buying a Jinma tractor. Due to service and warranty, I decided to go the big 3 route. I am looking at a NH TC30 with FEL. Compared to riding on my '49 8N, it's a cadilliac!!! The dealer quoted a price of $16,500. From reading prior posts, this seems a bit high. What are your thoughts? Are dealers like car dealers, make an offer and see if they will bite? There are currently 2 TC30's on the lot.

Make an offer. Take cash. Meet with them. All they can do is say no.

Recently, many of us on TBN have engaged in a lively discussion about dealers and their willingness to discount their tractors. Lots of differing opinions on that topic, so take a while to read through those threads.

One way to benchmark your local dealers is to compare their price with what you can get from Tar Heel Tractor in NC (you can find them on e-Bay) and Corriher Implement Company (also in NC). Both list thier prices on the net and will be happy to answer the phone. As you price compare take note of the transmission (a HST is more expensive that a standard gear), and FEL brand (a NH is more expensive than an after market FEL like my Rhino) on the rigs you are comparing.

If you are close enough to NC to make a drive worthwile (you didn't list your location in your profile), you may want to buy from either dealer, however, be aware that many people believe local dealers will not provide warranty support if you didn't buy from them. Again, there are lots of threads in TBN on these topics and I suggest you browse through them as you make your decision.

BTW, I also started looking at the Jinma tractors, first at Northern Tool, then some independant dealers, and finally ended up with the TC 30 with Rhino FEL. I also purchased from Tar Heel (I live in central VA) and since I haven't had a warranty issue have not had occasion to see if my local dealer would throw me out the door.

The TC 30 is a great little tractor and I have been very happy with mine. Good luck and happy hunting. Once you buy, please post some pictures.

Tractor dealers are certainly like car dealers. I am a Chevrolet dealer and recently purchased a TC30 and the local dealer gave me a very good price and good service. I sent you a PM concerning negotiations with your dealer.

this was my offer, thow in a 5' used king cutter rotory blade mower and use the 48 month 3.9 interest plan. his answer was nada :( so the deal was off.

i then went to a MF dealer and saw a used Deutz Allis 5220 28hp with 243 hours with loader. when i called earlier in the week, he wanted around $8,500 (i didn't mention my name). today, he told me the price was $7,995. the tractor looked fairly clean and the prior owner marked on the filters when they were changed and the hours. so i putz around on the tractor and move some dirt. it appears it will suit my needs, so i offer him $7,250, he then counters with $7,700. along with that, he says if i'm not happy with the tractor, i can get my $$ back or apply it toward a different tractor.

well, i take it to the land and start some box scrapping with my 5.5' box and moving dirt with the loader. just my dang luck, i noticed a leak in a quick connect for the hydraulic hose. i snap the coupler off/on and it is still leaking. not thinking it is losing that much fluid, i continue to move dirt. now the hydraulics are making noise when the 3pt and FEL are being used. it got so bad, i could barely get the bucket up to dump some dirt. i then commense to look for a hydraulic fill level dipstick/fill hole, but couldn't find it (does anyone know were these are located?).

oh well, back to the dealer it goes and i quess i'll have to buy a NEW tractor. since the dealer gave me the option to return the tractor for $$ back or full value trade-in, i'll be going with a MF..

I had initially planned on getting a TC30 as well. However, my local dealer not only wouldn't talk on the price, he actually quoted me higher than MSRP. I ended up at my local Kubota dealer and got a great deal on a L2800 HST.

Some dealers just don't seem to understand there are lots of choices.

My local dealer (who will remain nameless) wanted $18,200 for a TC30 gear with FEL and 5' rough cut mower. I think my side splitting laughter insulted him :)

I'm in the market for a TC30 here in central Fl and I was wondering if you would share your pointers on negotiating with a dealer?

Thanks

Ray
