I am looking at purchasing a rear blade for my workmaster 55. TSC has a 7 ft blade for $370. It weighs in around 230 lbs. The mahindra dealer here has a 7ft medium duty blade for $499. It weighs around 318 lbs. I was really looking for one in the 500 lb arena, but I know the prices jump quite a bit. I am looking to do some snow clearing and eventually some light gravel work. Thanks for your input.

I would not purchase the TSC blade unless it was their "PRO SERIES" blade. Comepletely different animal. Just my :2cents:

I had a 250ish lb 6' blade on my 8N, and it simply wasn't heavy enough to do a really good job. My new 8' blade is 575lbs and does a far better job. Honestly, I'd be okay if it was 1-200lbs heavier.

Good info. What model of blade do you currently have?

Look, here. The best blades for the money spent. Not the best blades, but they are a good blade for a fair price. You simply will not get much, especially for your size tractor for under $1000 unless you can find something used.

When asked, I typically recommend these, but THEY ARE NOT CHEAP.

Just my :2cents: good luck. ;)

It's the 8' EA XTreme that Brian added the link to. Here's a pic after I first mounted it...took the side plates off to push snow. I'm really glad I went with the 8' because once you angle it, you lose width, and sometimes the whole 3pt gets pushed to the side opposite where you're pushing the snow, so it reduces the amount it projects outside the wheel tracks (obviously, you can use the offset adjustment to help with that as well).

GmanBart,

What made you go with the ea over the heavy duty king kutter?

I have been debating the 8' vs the 7' for my Kubota mx5100. (Similar sized tractor) Have you used this blade in dirt yet? It was thinking the 8' would be too heavy if it was full.

GmanBart,

The King Kutter HD doesn't have offset capability, so that kind of eliminated it for me, but I did think the weight (roughly 700lbs) was nice. Also, I liked that the EA blade offered both the end plates, and skid shoes to make it a bit more versatile. Honestly, I figured I can easily weld another 100lbs on it if I really decide it needs it, but so far, so good.

The only blades that really made me pause were the ones that offered hydraulic adjustments....I'd sign up to be a beta tester for that if EA decided to build one!

No dirt work yet...just snow. :(

I can see it getting pretty heavy with dirt, no doubt. That makes wonder traction might be more of a limiting factor than weight. I have R1s on the Massey, and R4s on the LS so maybe I'll do some comparison testing this year (have lots of dirt and gravel to move coming up) to see if I can see any difference.
