Mahindra 4530
Hey! First poster! Just purchased our first tractor (if you don't count an old 41 Farmall m bought since I don't know when) this last week and am off and running! Bought a 2008 Mahindra 4530 used with 275 hrs. Got it from a local dealer who deals Mahindra and seemed to get a good deal since it was hard to find something used in our price range around here. So far seems to be exactly what we wanted! Havent had time to put it thru its paces but im sure ill have more to share we I do.

I have zero experience with maintaining tractors and diesel engines. I do consider myself mechanically inclined but still worried to ensure I maintain the tractor properly. Is maintenance on this make and model difficult? The dealer has yet to get me the owners manual but when he does I intend to go thru it thoroughly. The tractor was regularly maintained at the dealer and had not issues other than regular maintenance. My only concern at this point mechanically with the tractor is getting into 2nd gear seems to be more work than it should be. I noticed it when testing but when I started switching gears back and forth it seem to loosen up and become a non issue. Although after driving the tractor for an extended period in another gear switching back to 2nd seems hard until I loosen it up as before. Any comments appreciated!

All and all very excited! Glad to be a member. This site proved vital to me in the endless sea of tractor shopping!

Welcome Jeff!!

Seems like to me you made a good choice, I mostly run dozers, but at the farm I have masseys, deere and kabota. Mahindra isn't a bad choice for a starter tractor, my brother has a 60 horse he uses in the paperwood business and is very pleased with it. Main thing I would say is always check your oil, run good fuel in it, and make sure when your service time comes up, you service it completely! I don't mean just change oil and filters, I mean grease her good and keep her main points of movement greased every 10 to 12 hours of use, and that's if you use her good.

Best of luck with your new purchase

Congratulations Jeff & welcome to TBN.

What other goodies (implements) did you get for your rig?

Welcome Jeff! I am new to TBN too with my first tractor only a couple of weeks old and 10 hours on it. A lot to learn but boy is it fun! :D I think you will find the folks here very helpful and friendly. I know I have. Use the search function with key words in the title and you will answer all kinds of questions you didn't even know you had yet!

Welcome, we bought our Kubota new in 2011, and have really been amazed at how much it has eased the back work here.

You can probably find a copy of the manual online before your dealer gets you one, and once you have it, follow the scheduled maint. like it is the Gospel of St. Pete.

BE CAREFUL!

Hey all! Thanks for the advice!

Like i was saying the excitement was mixed with a little anxiety over making sure i was able to maintain properly. I am young but old enough to know most things are not as easy as they seem...

Was able to get a rotary mower (land pride RCF2072) and land pride blade (RB2596) at good pride from dealer. Land pride is literary made in my back yard here in Kansas so i better. Try to explain pulling a woods or like mower to one of my friends at Land pride!! I do know the blade is now discontinued but dont feel it to be an issue. Thought i could find an old blade for cheap but this one had my name on it.
