So Ive narrowed my search down to two, well maybe three, machines and need your help. To start, I need a tractor to mow lawn (3 acres), maintain driveway (450 ft gravel), plow driveway, and light bush hogging around pond and to maintain un-mowed areas. I know the specs and power are different but I am on a budget and I can get a 2013 left over 2620 or a new 2301 for the same price, right at about $20,000 tax included for machine, 60mmm, loader. Are those prices reasonable? Obviously the 2620 is more powerful but Im thinking that for my needs the 2301 is plenty. Also the 2620 has been sitting outside the dealership for 2 years. The last option is a 2320 for about 18,500 with the same specs as above. Please help steer me in the right direction. My wife has given me the green light so I want to strike before the door closes. Thanks in advance for your time and expertise.

Welcome to the forum. No idea what you should get. In fact, I haven't looked at new tractors in so long they all sound too high to me. My kids sometimes ask me questions like this about cars they're torn between. I tell them to get the one they can pay for in cash.

Get the B2320 as long as it's HST and not gear drive.
Contact Barlows and Messicks to get a price from them deliveredto your home to see if the price is right.

My theory on this, one is you can do little jobs with a stronger tractor, but can't do big jobs with a weak one. Your warranty starts when you buy it, not when it was made

Compare the loaders that the dealer is offering between the B2320 & the B2620 - just to know if it's apples to apples. The B2620's has a little more grunt, but it's a little bit slower, pump flow being the same. Then compare those to the B2301's loader. What size bush hog were you thinking of getting?

I priced out a 2620 last summer with the same options. Came in at $ 18,650- 18,825 tax included. There was $1000 rebate at that time which may or may not apply currently. This was the quoted price without any haggling.

The loader on the 2620 will be better than the 2320 which makes the difference to me.

The 01 series uses the same loader according to the brochure which has similar spec to the model used on the 2620. It can also be had with SSQA which is a nice feature. The 01 series has a quite few upgrades over the 20 series so I think it would be the better machine to have. The one thing I don't like in concept is the treadle peddle design. The 20 series (as well as my current 2410) have a open floor which makes mounting an dismounting very easy. My fear on the 01 series is that that peddle will be in the way. I will reserve final judgement on that until I actually try it, but at first glance I don't like it.

Good luck with your choice.

I had a B2620 that I mowed with but I wasn't happy with it.The front tires would cause a lot of turf damage when making turns. It bothered me so much I got a GR2120 to do my mowing and sold the mower deck for the B2620.Eventually I sold the B2620 but that was because I wanted a bigger machine. The B2301 has a different type of steering system so it "might" make a better mower.I have never used one so I can't really say.

I have been very happy with my B2620, but of the choices you mentioned, I would opt for the newer machine that hasn't been sitting outside for 2 years.

Thanks guys for all of the help. The 2320 has the LA304 and the 2620 has the LA364. I think Ive narrowed it down to the 2320 or 2301. Now, I just have to make up my mind if the extra $1500 is worth it. Lastly, I would want to run a 4 foot brush hog. Thanks again, I appreciate your help and knowledge.

Someone already mentioned it, but I will repeat it: if you can get the SSQA loader, you will most likely find several uses for it- I use a front mount snowplow, and sometimes wish I had a grapple, both SSQA implements. And, I found bigger can cause problems with lawn damage and tight access areas. Smaller just takes longer. Trade-offs, just like life.
