I have been looking at a restored John Deere 1969 110. Wondering if anyone has any knowledge in these tractors and whether it would be worth purchasing to actually mow a lawn. I plan on offering $1000 if I end up liking the mower.

Please let me know what some of you think about this mower.

Brings back memories. My Dad bought one the first year they came out, either 1963 or 1964. Before it he push mowed the lawn, about two acres, in two days.

The pic sure looks nice, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be spending $1,000 on a 43 year old lawn tractor.

I think I would see what price the seller comes up with rather than offering $1,000. up front. I say that because the seller may think it is worth alot more and would be offended at your offer. I am not making any recommendations that you buy or not buy nor do I have any idea of what it is worth. It is apparent that someone has spent alot of time prettying the old girl up though.

Yeah, the seller is asking $1200 for the mower. It is going to be hard to think of myself purchasing this mower because of its age. But then again, they don't make them like they used to. I might be better off finding a mower from the late 80's early 90s.

I think it is better suited to a person interested in collecting rather than using it solely to mow the lawn. I would rather have this 110 than a new box store mower of equal price anyway.

Well, I currently have a new x300 that I purchased and will be returning because of the K46 transmission. If I pay that much for a new mower I expect to own it for many years with no problems, and that's not what I expect to get from the x300. I would hate to replace the transmission in 5 years because JD should have supplied the tranny with a **** drain plug to allow for fluid changes.
