Pulling injector pump Yanmar 1600 tractor

I am trying to pull the injector pump from a Yanmar 1600 Tractor. I have all fasteners removed pump the pump slides about a inch and then hits something solid and will not be coaxed further. Does the cam have to be totated to free the pump?
