The PTO on my 2006 DK35 (Gear) does not turn when selected, either in Man or Auto. I tried in auto with position and draft levers in every conceivable placement. I get the red PTO light on in Man/Auto but the PTO shaft is not turning, I tested the fuse correct, tested safety function, (won't start if PTO switch is on), fluid is correct. I have been using Bush Hog for two days with no apparent problems. Today, PTO won't turn. Anybody have this problem before or suggestions before I call in the service desk? Thanks in advance for whatever help you can provide.

There is a relay that delivers power to the electrical solenoid that controls hydraulic power to the clutch pack. There is only one fuse and we know that fuse is OK because the PTO light comes on. Also, we know the auto/manual switch (and also the fuse) is OK because the engine won't crank if the PTO is on. That leaves that relay, the actual solenoid, or the connecting wires. I'd check for a lose/broken wire first and then check the relay. The sudden onset suggests a wire problem or lose relay/connector.

Question: The light you mention: Does the light in the switch work?, Does the light on the instrument panel work? Do both work? If the instrument panel light works, the relay is OK. If that's the case, look for a problem in the wire to the solenoid.

I'm not sure about your model, but I think the PTO solenoid is on the modulator valve near the hydraulic pump (on the engine). Hydraulic flow to the power steering system comes out of that modulator valve. There should be two solenoids on the modulator valve: PTO and 4WD.

Thanks for the help. So far, I tested the micro-switch on the Draft Lever and it is good. The light on the dash works correctly, there is no light on the switch. I tested the no-start sequence if PTO on, it works correctly. I have not taken the time, yet, to check any relays as I think they seem to be correct but wanted to follow wires to find sol Vv. entrance to check for problems. The service manual is not all that helpful, even if you discount the bad spelling/grammar. I have the wire diagram but there is no map of tractor showing where all the bits are located nor is there a color scheme. I know there are relays on the firewall, will need to find the right one. Thanks again.

Found the problem and as suggested, the wires to solenoid were damaged by the bit of wood stuck under the tractor. The harness to the solenoid runs over top of hyd filter and it was there I found the broken wires at the connector. The solenoid has a stub cable that runs up and aft-ward were it joined the main harness run. I also found two wires intact, they went to back of hyd filter receiver. With luck, a new connector and I'll be back in the saddle. Thank You for the suggestions.

Thanks for the pictures.
Now I know where solenoid is.

Good job and thanks for the feedback and pics. I hope you find that connector. If not it may make the most sense to use a set of some other type of connector that's easier to get.

Thanks and yes, I have two pin flat style as well as bullet type connectors in my shop so I can make it work if needed.
