PTO run pump with spray gun

I知 plannng on building a PTO powered water spray gun. I already have a 8 foot trailer that has a 200 gal water tote attached to it. I planning on burning some large pastures this winter and want to build a fire fighting water rig. I just never messed with a PTO water pump. Can anybody provide a plumbing schematic? Do I need a pressure gauge? Will probably also make this a brush/weed chemical rig...

Most pumps that are PTO operated , that Do Not cost a small fortune , are capable of doing what you are asking but with the understanding that they are Not Draft capable , or at least very limited in drafting , Thus your tank outlet will need to be higher than the pump .
GPM , ( Gallons per minute ) can be increased by $$ spent on pump , but then again , Not Necessarily .

6 roller pump with 33 GPM at 540 pto rpm's . 150 PSI max pressure , Which shooting out a hose for fire suppresion is more than enough for a single person .

Basically from tank to pump then pump to what ever your feeding be it a hose reel for suppression or a sprayer system . Don't see the need for a pressure guage on a supression system , since it is a basic system , but for sprayer system , the guage would be some were between pump and nozzles , in case pressure needed to be adjusted with a regulator or other device , ( maybe not enough nozzles or the opposite m to many nozzles ) .

Thanks for the info gents... Everything makes good sense.. Ill have to check the level of the underside tank fitting compared to the PTO pump placement. I’m thinking it will be about the same or lower. Will I have to raise the tank on the trailer? When the pump is pumping and your not spraying, what keeps you from blowing the lines?

When plumbing the pump you will have a supply line from the tank to the pump and a return line from the pump to the tank.
In the return line you need a tee and 2 gate valves. One valve going to the tank, which regulates your hose pressure and keeps from blowing up the pump. The other valve goes on the hose connection of the tee.

You need a pressure regulator like this. Will screw into a T on the output side of the pump and will go back to the tank.

You tank outlet won’t necessarily need to be above the pump but the water level will need to be for it to prime easily. I have pumped out of drums sitting beside the tractor. Water level was above the pump to begin with but eventually was below the pump and never had any issues.

Cheaper and better to get one of gas powered 1" pumps from Northern Hydraulic for around $220.

I dunno, there is merit not having to maintain another small engine. Especially with ethanol gas these days.
