I hate to admit I am gettting old, but I am. I am having a heck of a time getting my attachment on and off my PTO. I found these two adapters and would like to know if any of you have tried them or have an opinion of one over the other. Thanks

I have tried to connect an implement to the tractor PTO for the first time.

I could not get the attachment to slide onto the PTO. I think it is a subtle alignment issue between the female splines of the implement and the male splines of the tractor PTO.

New PTO powered implements, connecting to new tractor PTO splines are always difficult. Once implement and tractor PTO parts are somewhat worn in, mating becomes easier.

Clean mating parts, lubrication and technique are the keys.

Most here like Eureka Fluid Film as PTO lube. I prefer wax chain lube in an aerosol can.

Grease is too thick.

WD-40 burns off. Shaft goes on "OK" but can be difficult to disconnect when hot.

Connect the implement to the tractor via two Lower Link pins and one Top Link pin. Lift implement hydraulically until implement PTO shaft and tractor PTO spines are perfectly level, one with the other.

Turn tractor engine off, disengage PTO so tractor PTO splines can be turned by hand.

Turn tractor male splines by hand until they align with female shaft indents. Slide implement shaft onto tractor splines. Retract whatever type of detent you have, bkutton or collar, then push the implement shaft the final two inches onto the tractor PTO stub.

If the PTO shaft and tractor splines are not perfectly level it is almost impossible to slide implement shaft on to PTO splines.

I am 74 years old. I can connect PTO without too much difficulty.

Hi folks...took a bit of time and fussing but wanted to update you. Connection problem was resolved by leveling the implement to the PTO.

And the missing links are?

I watched 2 videos last night on PTO easy connect systems. I chose the Tractor PTO Quick connect adapter at Amazon.
This adapter looked to have the more contact surface and no pins to loose like the other one. Not cheap but I need the extension it provides to compensate for the Pat's easy connect link adapters I ordered and I welcome anything that makes changing implements easier. The PTO shaft connection is one of those things that is difficult to do when the back is acting up as it often does.
Pat's quick hitch system at Amazon here > https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08GQ8VX1G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
Everybody's situation is different. Some people need a little help.
I will come back here and let ya'll know how I like these things.

Having the implement at a height where the PTO shaft is horizontal and can slide straight on is a help.
In 99% of cases, this also check that the PTO shaft can slide /telescope short enough that it can’t damage your tractor’s rear ind casing.
If PTO doesn’t go on in the couple attempts, then I bungee it to the top link for support so I don’t have to hold it up myself and only have to slide it forward.

I'm actually surprised that more mfgr's don't use a manual gearshift to put the PTO into "neutral" so you can spin the male spline coming out of the tractor by hand. Mine has it, but my neighbor's green tractor does not, and it sounds like the Orange guys don't either.

Kind of suprising to me. Simple solution. Leveling up the implement will help, but if you have to turn the driveshaft for the implement by hand, that can be a problem.

I've found it helpful, when attaching PTO implements to the tractor, to connect the PTO first with the tractor a few inches ahead of final position. This gives better access for connecting the PTO and can then back up to attach the implement to the 3PH. Just be careful when getting in between! Shut the tractor off and apply the brakes!

On my BX2200 I can shift the PTO to mid-PTO only and it frees the rear PTO and vice versa. It is real nice to be able to rotate the spline when connecting an implement.

Any tractor PTO I've connected would either freely rotate when disengaged, or go 1/4 turn if engine was off. If you keep things clean and lubricated no issues.

Many implements turn easy enough that you can rotate the machine by hand to line it up. Even the CV shaft on my baler has tubing that allows a slight free turn to put it on.
