First time removing mower deck. I have reset pins on both sides and front bars, but am having trouble getting the PTO connector to slide back on the drive. I can feel it move an RCH to the rear but it will not release. I don't know if it is my old arthritic hand and wrist and I just don't have the umpf to pull it.

Will some suggest something to help me?...

My BX1860 mower shaft removal was interesting until I figured it out. I had to push the shaft towards the tractor and then slide the collar back. While holding the collar, you slide the end away from the tractor. If you release the collar too soon, it locks back. Be warned, that 1000 rpm shaft only mates up 1 way to go back on. I wished that I had marked mine when I went to put it back on! I have not touched the one on my new B2601 yet, but it is probably the same beast!

Hello Cutter49. As Kevin said, the spring-loaded collar is probably your problem. He's right, too, about the positioning of the spline when you make the connection. After getting tired of wrestling around with it and trying to get the shaft lined up correctly with the collar I marked the correct alignment by drilling a shallow hole (just enough to be able to see) on both pieces. Line the marks up and it's aligned correctly! Good luck. Jeff

Thanks Kevin, but when you say "towards the tractor" and "away from the tractor" which end, direction?

It's probably rusted balls that won't release. I would ignore the shaft part with collar and just pull mower deck off. Thebes way is to lift front with front loader and shove the frock away from rear towards front so the mmm shaft comes apart. It slides on a spline. One the deck outs of and away from tractor you can get under the Tractor to use both hands on collar and pull..wiggle... Pull.. Wiggle out right off. Once it's off you can grease up the collar and locking balls so it's smooth again. Then you can reach the shaft to the other half on the deck. Remember it's got a welded spot like a key on the spline so it only goes on one way. Good luck
