PTO mulcher for 90hp tractor?

Hello,
I have about 30 acres of recently cut woodland I would like to clear for pasture (mostly hemlock and spruce, fairly big stumps). I also have another 100 or so I may clear in the future. I would like to mulch it and hiring someone would be to pricey for that much.

I was thinking of buying a mulcher for my farm tractor (93hp) and using that after installing creeper gears. Will 93hp be enough? Any recommended brands or models? Price range?

In theory, your tractor's horsepower should be enough to handle the mulcher. Most of the R-O-W tractors that run mulchers are right around 100hp to the PTO. You might want to check the manufacturer recommendations though.

Your problem is going to be safety. Most R-O-W tractors have extra heavy duty ROPS and canopy to protect the operator from falling debris as well as protective screens and lexan to protect from thrown debris.

Also, those PTO mulchers are designed to operate going backwards, so you will have a very stiff neck by the end of 130 acres.

A PTO stump grinder might be a better investment. Just my :2cents:

AHWI make one for tractors 80-120 hp. You'd have to check with Fecon if they make then. Also try FAE, Seppi, Berti to name a few

Dirt Road is correct . We have a Valtra with a Fecon BH 120 the we can drive from either direction. Our cab has rear and side Lexan windows to protect from flying debris along with a smooth underbelly and a ton of custom shielding . One other thing to think about, the amount of material that is shot under the tractor is incredible. Look under 99% of tractors out there and you will see nothing but wiring harnesses , hydraulic lines and a lot of other VERY expensive parts that will be pricy to repair and cause a lot of down time. The PTO units recover a lot faster than most hydraulic units but you don't have the fine control with a PTO tractor unit that you do with other types of mulchers
