I have JD GT 275.
The pto has been kicking out lately and has become more frequent as time passes by.
Usually you can just reset the pto and you are good to go.
The pto kicked out one day and the motor also stopped, upon investigation it blew the 15 amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and started the tractor, when I engaged the pto it blew the fuse blew a 2nd time. I replaced the fuse and drove the tractor to the house for troubleshooting.
I found a bad pto switch, I replaced the switch stared the tractor and all was well so I set out to mow, about 10 minutes later the pto kicked out. I reset it but it soon kicked out again. I reset it and if kicked out again and again until it would not stay engaged at all.
Back for more troubleshooting.
The battery is good (11.8 volts) as well as the charging system (13.8 volts). The pto check shows 3.4 ohms I believe it should be 3.7 ohms. From the pto to ground (on motor) I got 27 ohms should this be 3.7 ohms as well?
I readjusted the clutch and checked to be sure it is functioning and all is well.
The tractor has now cooled and I took off for another shot at mowing my yard only to have it start kicking out after mowing for awhile with a repeat of what happened the other day.
I believe the pto is bad.
Does anyone have any suggestions of something else to try?
