Greetings!
This is my first post, google pointed me here, you folks have a great wealth of knowledge!
I just bought a used GT1554 with 110 hours on the clock, in decent shape (not perfect mind you) for $1200.
I've already replaced the deck belt as the deck would shake and shudder and PTO would disengage. With the new belt it doesn't shake and shudder, but the disengage issue still exists.
If I place the ignition switch in the 'reverse mode' and press the reverse button, the PTO will engage and stay on. However, if I switch the key back to 'normal' mode, the PTO will disengage. If I have the key in the 'normal' position, sometimes the PTO will engage, sometimes not. If it does engage it will stop anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds later.
Does anyone have the wiring diagram? Is this a common issue? As I've said, in reverse mode the PTO engages and stays on, so I think there is a loose wire in the ignition switch area.
While changing the belt I noticed that the previous owner had the deck welded at the left side hanger, they must have hit something pretty hard and separated the hanger from the deck body, but they did a decent job welding it back in place. My wife is not a 'tractor person', but when I brought it home she jumped in the seat and said, "WOW, this is OUR new tractor?" Crud, I think I just lost the only 'me' time I had!
Thanx in advance,
