www.threeriversforestry.com is where I bought mine.
The hinging feed chute has proven to be an excellent design as it really aids in transporting in tight areas. With the low load height, and hydraulic feed a guy can feed in whatever he can drag and it will pull it in limbs and all. The CH170 was about $1200 more, but it has more "blow" and with the higher flywheel speed it carries more inertia and runs a bit smoother.
Helpers always want to trim the trees more, and it's hard to get them to leave things in larger pieces. We can feed 20-30' tall trees provided they are relatively straight so they don't bind in the 6" feed.
We did a Maple tree for the mother in law and had it down, chunked chipped including unloading and reloading the tractor in under an hour. This was myself (questionable back) on the saw (Husky) with Elaine, her mother and the neighbor guy (50's) to feed. We also used the tractor to tie off and pull the tree the correct direction.
The neighbor has a medium sized gas powered
chipper and hasn't stopped talking about how awesome that Valby
chipper is. I told him I was going to the next model up (this was a demo) and he said WHY?
Basically between the mother in law and her neighbor they figure they can keep me busy a lot during the summer. Not like I have time, but I'll have to make some I guess.
And to think I bought this as a toy...
