Hi, I would like to convert a 3 pt backhoe that operates off a PTO pump to operate off my tractor remotes. Any suggestions? Thanks........

How many GPM does you BH require? Does your tractor produce that GPM. Do you have remotes installed now?

I just answered your other post, Please do not double-post your question-it makes it very hard to help you when answers to questions are scattered between different forums.

My tractor has 16.1 gpm flow rate and has two (2) sets of remotes. I do not know the flow rate of the BH. The BH was once mounted to a large flat-bed truck. It weights about 1 ton. 12.5' reach.

The 16 GPM is plenty, in fact your hoe will be faster than you may want. If so, just reduce rpm.

Hi, I am fairly new to posting and the correct "ways" to post questions; but anyways, I am trying to figure out if I have to do any type of work to the existing valve system on the backhoe that goes to the operating levers. I have hooked into one set of remotes and "opened" my hydraulics to allow fluid to flow into the BH valve. When I do this the system will not allow fluid back to the tractor and dead-ends. After blowing one of the lines I new something was not quite right, so before I go any further I was looking for help and new by browsing the vast knowledge here on the net I would get some great advice. Thanks. When I hook up my Split-Fire woodsplitter in the same maner the fluid flows back and forth properly. By the way, the Split-Fire is one heck of a machine! I modified mine by adding 4" to the top and replacing the far end with a heavier end with "wings" to aid in the spliting function. I am able to split up to 4 cords per hour with the help of two other people.

When you say, open the hydraulics, what did you mean? Did you bungee the lever open?
I believe the return from the BH should go to reservoir.

Check your QD's also.

Are you trying to put a closed center BH on a open center tractor?

1) I use a bungee-cord to hold the lever open which allows the hyrdaulic fluid to flow to the BH, wood splitter, etc...
2) The tractor has open center hydraulics,
3) I am reseraching the net to try and find info on the BH. I will post as soon as I can find out anything.
4) I was looking at feeding the BH with one remote and planning on running the return line from this remote directly into the tractor housing/sump?
Does this sound correct?

I'm willing to speculate as much as the next guy.

If you bungee a remote open for a splitter, it should work the same for your backhoe. Just plug the return from the backhoe into the other quick connect just like you did with your splitter.
