Running my 2018 Manindra HST 5550 with a 6' hog. While running the hog when I got into some heavier stuff the hog would almost completely stop turning, I would have to lift the hog and let it take off again then go. I first thought it might be some kind of clutch on the hog but I noticed that the drive shaft was also stopping so that meant the PTO gear box was slowing with the hog. Now, I didn't notice any change in the engine like it was under any kind of load. Running in low range at about 2200 RPM. The hog is almost new and hasn't been in any rough areas with lots of saplings just grass. Any words of advice ??

I am guessing something is slipping in the tractor, you should have plenty of power.

That is my fear, Didn't know if there was an adjustment I haven't found. I don't have an owners manual.

Just wondering if you are seeing the actual pto shaft, or the cover that covers most of them these days?

It's the drive shaft, That worthless plastic cover is chained to the hog so it don't spin at all.

Well, there's a clutch in the tractor that turns the PTO on and off. Have the dealer hook the tractor up to a PTO dynamometer and see how it performs. If the PTO stops rotating before the advertised PTO horsepower is reached, then the PTO clutch in the tractor is bad.

i run my brush hog at the top of the green range - about 2500 rpm - while in low range on my MF 1540 hydro.

It will bog down in the thick stuff, but the engine will bog down too

That is kind of my fear, with no load on the tractor engine I think I have other issues. I haven't checked the fluids but plan to do that before next use.

That is what I would think should happen. bucket and 3 point seem fine and will load the machine. Need to check fluids to make sure all is good. Is it possible if it is low that would cause this.
