PT seat w/ armrests

Hey everyone, I just changed out the seat on my PT1460 with a suspension seat. I bought it at Tractor Supply for $100, less than the price of the PT armrests, lol. Anyways, the seat only has about 70 hours on it, so if anyone is interested, let me know. I am willing to let it go reasonably. Arm rests are in mint condition.

I will try to get some pics of the new seat tomorrow.

Not only pix but Details. And your net results (too high, not enough, not enough spring)....

Ken is the 1st that I know to do this and he loves the results. I am on the fence but have to do something this year.

I only have about 3" of headroom on our PT425. That is what is stopping me from getting a suspension seat.

I haven't used it yet, but after some trial and error I got it so that it should be much better than the original seat. I cut the arms down 3", which dropped the platform about 2.25" and moved it forward about 2.25". I drilled several holes before getting it where I wanted (lol) but I like the final mounting position. I would always use the stock PT seat as far back as possible, and now I can go back even further if needed. It is maybe 1-2" higher when I sit in it, but is lower when bottomed out.

Here is the arm. You can see that I cut right through the old mounting hole.

The seat has permanent armrests. I kind of like that better.

There is less than an inch to the hydraulic tank cap, but it is enough room.

You can see some of my goof off holes, lol. The seat ended up much farther back on the plate, but works good that way. I don't hit the plate with my legs at all.

I reused the PT seat belt. It actually works a bit better with this seat. On the PT seat there was too much belt, and I always worried about the extra material getting caught on something.

3" of head room would be tight for the low profile suspension system. It adds 1.75 - 2.75 " of height. The amount is adjustable. I do not use the full range because then you become a yo yo.

Personally, I prefer to be able to swing the arms out of the way.

The low profile solution seems a lot better. I really haven't used the PT yet, so I don't know how it will perform. Like I said, the seat was only $100, so it's not like I broke the bank on it. This seat does have a lot of travel to it, but with the seat belt tensioned properly it won't go up all the way. I guess it is a tradeoff between comfort and control, and finding that happy medium is the key.
