Seems a really poor design all of the spring tension would be on this cast alloy locating lug.Had mine break today seems to be a common problem. If you did not hear the belt squealing or if it broke the belt you could overheat the engine.Any body been able to change it with something better or more reliable?I was able to alloy tig weld the housing and build it up to form a lug to get us going for the day till new parts show up.

Yep, that was the last thing that went to crap on the PT-100G I had. I check my gauges real often, and when it broke the engine over heated real quick. It was still under warranty, but after hauling it 100 miles West, to my dealer, he said that the engine wasn't covered by Terex and I'd have to take it to the nearest Perkins dealer....250 miles East of where I started out.
I don't want to spend my time looking back, I'm trying to look forward as much as possible. So I'll just say good luck to those who own a Terex. :drink:

I had an argument with a dealer of a Chinese excavator along the same lines some years ago. He keep trying to fob a problem to Cummins. I told him we didn't buy a Cummins engine but an excavator. They fixed it

Kiwi Mulcher, if you drill and tap a hole were that tit should be and screw in a stud it may outlast the machine.:2cents:

When I get time I may pull the old one apart, as it is cast alloy I doubt a thread would hold and I think the spring in there would take up most of the internal space inside the housing leaving little room for a bolt head.why Perkins/terex use this tensioner seems silly, we have never had a problem with using the alternator to tension the belt on any other machine.Probally driven by making the end user buy more parts.
