I want to put chains on the front of my X744 with a 54 inch plow. The tire size is 18x7-8. The chains I can find for Snowblowers are either 18x8-8 or 18x6.50-8. I suspect the 18x6.50x8 would be a better fit. Any thoughts, thanks!

I'm no chain expert by an means, but I would suggest that: long chains can be shortened fairly easily, but short chains cannot be lengthened easily.

Maybe talk to the manufacturer / dealer and see what they recommend. Perhaps you could get some actual measurements of the chain and compare that to the actual measurements of your tires. :anyone:

I know I can adjust a set of 18x8.5x8, but I just did not want the hassle. Thanks

Probably safer to buy 18x8.50x8 and shorten the links for a custom fit. I'm just being lazy. :D
