A quick question...

How do you get the wifey to help check the propane tank once in a while? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My wife loves those sauna type showers. Me, I enjoy a cold shower. Yet, when (if) we run out of propane, I'm the one in hot water!!

Can anyone explain that to me?

Seems to me she can open the hat on the propane tank and read the little numbers, and if necessary, make the call for the refill.

Maybe it gets back to those "golden rules" of customers (but rearranged for wives):

Rule #1
The wife is always right! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Rule #2
If you think the wife is wrong /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, refer to Rule #1.

They have everything they need to help...

Good vision -
"Oh, it says 10, and its in the red, nah, we got propane....honey won't let me run out of propane"

We've taught them how to read...
"Honey, where's the phone book, I need to call the propane guys..."

We even trained them to use the phone...
(this is it's own story)

So why can't they look and call once in a while??

In our house there are two reasons why she won't do it...

1) it's outside.... that means it's men's work
2) it's too technical.... no further comment needed /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ask your supplier if you can be put on the automatic fill. If you don't own the tank they have to fill it anyway so you might as well have them fill it once a month.

This makes me wonder how did we ever get them to gas up their own car?

murph,
I just use the propane for water heating and stovetop cooking. We use so little fuel, I'm sure those guys would charge a service charge. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I only heat the house with propane, less than 400 gallons per year, and she wont check it either..........not sure she knows how. Our company would fill monthly, but I chose to fill once a year and let it be that way.

now I wish I had done that 2 months ago like SHE suggested since I am sure it is VERY expensive now. Not going to tell her though

Its probably just as well, Hobbyfarm. The first time she lifts the bonnet and finds a wasp nest, not only will that be the end of her propane checking days, you'll be spending the rest of your days hunting down the little varmints. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

She will never check it and it will always be your fault. That's the joy of being married. Get used to it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No, they shouldn't charge you a fee. In fact they still would rather put you on a automatic fill because they can come when they are in the area. Instead of every month they may come every 3 months or so. They have your records, they have an idea of how much you use. Many years ago when I drove an LP truck we did that all the time. I liked it better because then there was no emergency fills like what your doing.
