Probly a stupid IH 624 Tractor Question

Hi Folks,

Newbie here, After poking around my IH 624 I noticed a bolt was missing on what I think is called the oil pan cover?(See pics) My question is how do I go about finding the correct bolt to replace it with ? Any guidance is aprreciated

You have to wonder why is it missing? Either threads in bolt hole are bad, it backed out, or the last time it was removed it simply was not replaced.
Guess I would remove one of the bolts on opposite side and loosely thread it into the hole with missing bolt to see if threads are okay. Then take the bolt o the hardware store and buy another one, plus a thread repair kit if the threads in the bolthole are bad. The markings are for a grade 5, so once you determine the size you can find the correct torque value using one of the tables on the internet. I would check that the other bolts are torqed correctly. Looks like it is sealed with some gasket sealer, so at least it is not leaking.

There are no stupid questions. There are only stupid answers and you will get a lot of chances to prove my point we were told by one of my teachers. :laughing: I wouldn't torque the bolt to full torque though. You don't want to deform the pan cover or it will start leaking.
