HI, I'm a new Member and recently broke my 2002 TC25D's Clutch Housing. From the looks of it, it failed and cracked a while ago and took alot of pushing & pulling to finally break it free. When it broke I had no foward or reverse, but luckily I still had the HPU. I bucket crawled out of the woods and onto the trailer. The Shop repair costs to split the tractor and replace the Clutch Housing is about $6,000. Has anyone had any luck getting NH to contribue to a repair like this? Having the FEL mount on this fairly weak Housing seems like a design flaw to me.

In the posts I have read where people broke the clutch housing, the cause was usually loose bolts on the loader mounts or loose bolts on the belhousing.

After treading many post on TBN about loose mounting bolts I finally checked mine and low and behold I found some fairly loose bolts. I don't have a FEL but 4-5 bolts on my 06 TC45A were loose with only 100 hours on the tractor. If they come loose again i will use loc-tite.
The loose bolts were on the engine to tranny and front frame to engine and one on the ps cylinder.

Why wait? I was one of the TC-24D owners that had all the bolts between the engine and the bell housing loosen up and had oil hydro dripping as a result of straining the input shaft seal. The bottom 4 all easily took two to three full turns. I was lucky to catch it early and had seen the problems reported here by others. I pulled the machine in the garage and took it apart enough to get at all the bolts, took them out one at a time and coated with loc tite. The seal "healed" itself with the restored proper alignment, at least that is what I think happened. I recently did my 600 hour service (3 months after tightening the bolts) and everything was bone dry and the bolts/nuts tight. I recommend the loc tite right away.

As far as the original question on the housing, it seems that NH needs a lot of pressure before helping out. The backing of your dealer also helps a lot. Seems like a very high price for the repair. I was quoted between $500 and $600 to split my tractor and replace the input shaft seal. Can the casting for the bell housing cost that much? I really don't know, just thinking out loud. Good luck with getting it repaired.

this was not a uncommon problem with the compact tc models
the units that it would really affect was units with loaders and over sized
3pt equipment.there is no sub frame cause the bolts to come loose by
twisting, pulling the driveline componets.thus this is not the bolts turning loose but the bolt and hole threads pulling the threads.
i have seen engine blocks, trans casings and rear housingn crack and pull apart
yes this can be costly the best i remember to remove, transfer interior components for a trans. was about 4 grand parts and labour cdn dollars
cost will vary to ho.w much damage was done when it split apart
hope this helps
thanks
