Front-End Loader problems with cylinder threads

I had a friend make a new bucket for the gel on my 9n. Pitch was different and I knocked the return fitting off the cylinder and stripped out the threads. Have corrected the problem with a stop on the bucket, but how to fix the cylinder? Local shop wants way too much money (could buy a new one cheaper), and new ones all have different style mounting. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Weld it back into place?

Wouldn't I have to tear it all apart and if so might as well rebuild? Or else risk damage from heat?
