I have a customer who has an old Ford 2000 with the stiff stabilizer arms and I'm trying to help him with a box blade we sold him. He is having trouble hooking up the box blade to his 3 pt. hitch and the whole problem is the way the aftermarket stabilizer arms are on the tractor, they don't allow the lift arms to come our far enough to hook up to the lift pins on the box blade.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've looked around for some other stabilizer arms on the web with not much luck aside from finding the same style stabilizer arms he already has on the tractor.

I did not sell him the tractor but I'm just trying to help him.

thanks!

This type will interchange with the type that your customer has if you can find the right length. If you can't find the right length, get on too long and cut a section out of it and reweld. GENERAL - UNIVERSAL STABILISERS

Thanks for the response Jerry! I did a little poking around and I saw those also but now I see they go up to 35" compared to the 31" all the stiff stabilizer arms are which makes a huge difference.

by the way, beautiful part of AR you live in up there! My father lives in Rogers, AR.

They have several inches to their adjustment range. I never liked the flat bar stabilizers. The implements always had to be almost exactly the correct width and as we all know, Cat. 1 implement spec. are all over the board.

I lived in Rogers for a few years before I started farming. The Rogers/Bentonville area is Walmart central.

Reverse the pins on the box blade?

If you reversed the pins they'd be even closer together. Basically the closer the lift pins are the longer the stabilizer bar has to be.

RedRiver,
I own an old Ford 2000 and have no problem hooking up to the box blade, but don't use stiff stabilizer bars. Instead, I use stabilizer chains from TSC.
Is it possible to get a picture of his setup?

I have not seen a picture but if you look under the NH owning/operating forum you'll see another thread I started about this. THe last picture Soundguy posted I assume is how this customers stabilizer arms are setup. His stabilizer arms mount under the axle and the other end hooks over the same lift pins where you lift arms hook up.

Tell your customer to look at the stabilizer chains. TSC really likes them since they charge so much for them. Maybe you can get him a set for less.
I mounted them under the axle. Will take some pictures of my setup and post them when I get home tonight .

Red River,
You already have a picture of the stabilizer chains.

I bought them at TSC several years ago. Like so many other useful products, they apparently stopped carrying them.
My chains have a screw adjustment on them. You'll see it when I post the pictures later today.

Yes, I saw that picture. But I was looking for a link so I could point the customer in the right direction.

Thanks

RedRiver,
Here are the pictures I promised you.
The first pic shows one mounted. As you can see, I have to take it up a link because it is too long.
The second pic shows the entire assembly. The links are really hefty.
The third pic shows the turnbuckle. It has about 8 to 10 inches of adjustment in it. There is no problem adjusting to any lift pin width variations. If the lifting arms can attach, so can the chains.
The fourth pic is a detail of the chain assembly.

TSC doesn't have them in their catalog or Website, but I did buy them there. Maybe if your customer took the pics to his local TSC or farm equipment store, they could help him find a set.

Thanks so much guys for all of your help!

I called the customer yesterday and left him a message explaining what I thought he needed to get and I haven't heard anything back from him yet so I assume he's found what he needed to get.

Thanks again!
