Hi,
I have a 2415 with about 15 hours on it. It now rarely starts when turning the key (doesn't even turn over). The only way to start it is to take the throttle, and pull back so it flexes a bit, and then turn the key.

To me this inidicates there is probably some sort of an electrical problem. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

There must be a loose wire under the dash. I can't think of any other reason, but when you pull back on the throttle you are flexing something that makes the connection. Pull out the dash panel and look for a loose wire. Good luck!

Odd deal. We have sold dozens of these and have never seen that problem. We have seen the occasional PTO switch that needed to be adjusted forward a bit. It is by your left hip, but that doesn't explain your throttle solution. Have your dealer get it fixed for you, it is either a loose connection or a safety switch out of adjustment.

The safety switch is the H/L lever (On my gear model). Maybe there is a different switch for HYD models?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the response - I just got back in town and finally saw these replies, and had time to look at the tractor.

So I pulled off the dash and traced all the wires - everything looks fine. What I suddenly noticed when I was trying to figure this out is that it starts when I shift weight on the seat. So maybe it's not the throttle that was doing it at all, but rather me shifting my weight. I can now consistently shift weight on the seat to get it to start.

So this makes no sense to me at all.

Any thoughts?

Forgot to mention, I was thinking it may be some sort of grounding problem, but still doesn't make much sense to me . . .

Have you pressed the PTO lever rearward when you try to start? It is likely the PTO switch, or the hydro neutral switch. Shouldn't take but a minute tor two to figure out which one.

Dave is probably right about the PTO safety switch as it is right up by the seat, also the clutch safety switch is located under the right foot rest and can be hit by debris from underneath and a small bend of the bracket could cause your problem. Good luck with it.

Thanks All,
It was the PTO switch . . .
