Recieved my 20 HST today woohoo. I put about an 1.5 hr on it and just as I was finishing mowing I see the MM deck is shing/glistening with a liquid. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I am thinking " oh !#$!# a hydraulic leak all ready" Well it is coming out around the compression fitting going into manifold for the bucket hydrualics, looks like a 3/4 inch nut with what looks like some packing coming out the top. The leak is coming out of the bottom of the nut. Guess I can just try to tighten it up some more and replace the lost fluid.
SIGHHHHHHH /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Guess I am done playing till Monday after talk to my dealer. Anyone else have leak problems?

P:

I would try to tighten it up. When you do, you should be able to tell if it is loose or not. Hopefully that's all that is wrong.

Sorry to hear that you're having a problem. Assuming I have it right, your talking about the hydraulic block on the right side under the platform right? Where ALL the hydraulic hoses are hooked up. As this is something that was hooked up by the dealer, I suspect they failed to tighten to specs. Before you go to tighten it, put the loader all the way down, turn off the tractor and move the joystick until the bucket won't do anything, to release all the pressure. Ensure that the fitting is on straight and not cross-threaded, and tighten it if it's loose at all. If you see ANY pipe thread tape (there should not be any on those fittings) be very careful not to tighten it too hard or you can break it. Those should be beveled fittings and therefore should not have tape, but tape would allow too much tightening to the breaking point. If there is tape, I think I'd just take it off and rethread and tighten. After you tighten it, raise the loader and run it through several cycles of curling, etc. Then check the fluid level being careful not to go beyond the roughed up part on the stick. I'm sure you read the manual, so you know that anywhere between is OK. I hope this is all, probably is. Let us know.John

Congratulations on getting your new CK20, but sorry for the problems. I hope it is a minor thing. Yes, I did have to tightin up some fittings and I have not had a leak since. I checked all the fittings to be sure no suprises.

Well, I squeezed out another 3/4 turn on the nut. No leak, I didn't loose much fluid as it wasn't enough to run off the edge of the deck yet, but it was close. Maybe 1-2 cups worth, still looks okay on the dip stick, wish it was colored fluid though. Hard to see it on the stick. Even washed my babies deck to get the nasty fluid off it. Thx for the reassurance. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Pilonidal,

I have been away from TBN for awhile, but just stopped by and read your post. The exact same thing happened to me with my CK20HST and MMM. After a bit of checking I discovered the MMM can make contact with that hyd. line if the deck bounces around very much. It has happened to me three times. I called Kioti last summer and let them know of the problem. I'm hoping they will create a different routing for that line to avoid contact. Obviously, if the deck hits the line too hard permanent damage will occur.

Hope it helps

Thx for the reply. I do see a small gouge mark on the line. I don't see how the deck could hit it with all the linkage between the deck and the line. The line is even above the top level of the front drive shaft. I took the deck off for loader work so I'm not sure of the distance, or what part of the deck hit it. It is quite abit for one side of the deck to slam up into the line. I cranked on the nut and it stopped, but I still see an occasional drip forming on the pipe and a very small oil stain on the deck below it. One of these days I'll take it apart and remove the packing as suggested earlier and retighten it. Right now it has work to do. Thx again

I wouldn't have thought it could hit either, but on mine it does. The gearbox on the MMM is the culprit. When the MMM is in the raised position there is only 2-3" of "bounce room". Maybe less...I can't measure right now. I love the tractor, but my biggest gripe is the poor clearance with the MMM in the raised position. Everything else has amazed me.

I'll let you know if I find a solution.
