My wife and I are leaving in the morning for a Princess Cruise to the western Caribbean - The ship/boat has some alternative dining rooms that offer prime meat/seafood/italian food that is not covered in the basic cruise price - for them you have to pay a 'cover charge'.

has anyone been on a Princess Cruise and used this restaurants and what was the 'cover charge'?

thanks

Brian

Found the answer on cruisecritic.com..

For those interested - it was either $20 or $25 per person extra (+$9 if you wanted lobster)... Based on the review I would guess if you want to a similar restaurant, not on a cruise ship, it would run $50ish per person..

Dang... all those years eating in the chiefs mess on ships (best food in the world)... Got to kill bad guys too! I could never pay to take a paid cruise! They paid me!

I have cruised with Carnival and Norwegian. The Carnival ship I was on had no alternative restaurants that cost you more but their main dining rooms were excellent and you got lobster at least one night. The Norwegian had alternate dining rooms but I never used any of them because the food was great in the regular dining rooms (with lobster) and I felt like I already paid for all the food I could eat included in my ticket price, why should I pay for it again at another restaurant.

I could not have gone to local restaurants in New Orleans and gotten the amount of food I got on the ship, of the same quality, for the price I paid for the cruise tickets.

Right now this is the thought process my wife and I are having - why pay more for what is usually quite good food and all you can eat... This will be our 3rd cruise (2 on Carnival, first on Princess) and the food has always been outstanding in the main dining rooms..
