I've been scouring the site looking for info on a new tractor and thought I had narrowed it down to JD and Kubota but yesterday I met with a local Massey dealer who's been in business for 50+ years and this is what they quoted me.

GC2400
DL100 Loader
54"MMM ( i may got 60" for $100 more)
Front grill guard
Turf Tires (though concerned how they will perform in the snow during winter)
Rear filled tires (Calcium Chloride I believe?)
2 welded 5/16 hooks onto front bucket
free transport to our home
free 50 hour maintenance
rear 3pt hitch to 2" ball receiver
free future pick up/delivery for any maintenance needed on tractor
extra fuel filter
extra oil filter

total = $15,000

Comments? Suggestions?

Thanks everyone!

I don't know much about M.F but never heard anything bad! seem to be close to the Kubota BX23/24 series.

Why empty versus filled?

Bar tires would chew up my lawn in no time...and most of my time would be mowing.

right now, split between the turf (R3) tires and the industrial (R4) tires.

Ah, the never-ending tire question.

Well, I have the R4s on my 2310 and while they have served me well, I think that if I had it to do over again, I would probably go with the turf tires. I'm just not convinced that for my application, the R4s were really necessary.

Then again, maybe the answer is just to have both types of tires mounted on rims. :D

If worse came to worse, couldn't I attach chains? Turf for lawn and attach chains prior to other jobs?

I think I'm with you Jaybrad....

Chains, and turfs are a great combination since the turf tread keeps the chain up there where it can do some good. Probably the best combination available for winter use especially, and should work pretty well in mud too.

what dealer is this with? I only knew of one dealer in mass

IMHO, if you look closely at the tractors, the BX and GC are quite close, but I think the M-F is built a little heavier... at least it seems so. The engine is, at least with earlier models, a bit larger on the M-F, which translates to more PTO hp at a lower rpm... but again, that's with the 2300 series vs the BX24 series. Newer models may be different.

Is the M-F dealer also quoting 0%? That can also make a big difference in the total price, but either tractor is a quality machine.

Ditto the turf tires; I've had very little trouble using them without chains for snow blowing. Perhaps the chains will go on for woods work...

The MF had +1hp to the PTO, motor is 14 c.i. larger and tractor weighs about 200lbs more. BX got a slight edge on lifting capacity, break force and ground clearance....otherwise, the two machines are identical.

It came down to (and was mentioned to me in prior posts)
1. Service
2. Service
3. Financing....and service
