Rake Price on Land Pride Landscape Rake

Just got off the phone with my J.D. dealer. They sell Land Pride equipment. I asked him for a price on two Land Pride rakes. Both were no frills -- basic units. (no optional blades, gauge wheels, etc.) The prices he came back with were out of sight. They were:
LR1572 -- $680.00
LR2572 -- $900.00
Considering that a landscape rake has no gear box and no moving parts and that it's basically a frame with some spring teeth, I can't understand these prices compared to Atwoods or TSC's prices on the King Kutter brand of around $370.00 for the same size (72") rake. Has anyone purchased a Land Pride rake and, if so, do you see anything about it that could justify being over 2 times the price of a King Kutter brand? I can understand some price difference for a mechanical unit. I purchased a Land Pride roto tiller and brush cutter and even one of their 25 series box blades, but this pricing for a landscape rake just seems way out of line.

I don't remember the exact prices but was also shocked by the high price for a Land Pride rake. I called the local King Kutter dealer and he was out of stock and did not seem to want to order one. He said "I'm out of stock. Click". This was 2 weeks ago. So-- I raked the area by hand. End result was that it did not come out as flat as I wanted and I broke my 15 year old rake and it took 8 hours of raking over 2 days. Next project I'll plan ahead and get the cheaper 3 pt rake.

Hoss-
My dealer said $600 for 1572, $800 for 2572. I don't get it either- That's more than I paid for an RBT 3584 rear blade (a few years ago).

Greenville Turf & Tractor, Greenville, SC just quoted me $540 for the LR 1572 last week. I thought that was high also, considering the equipment. I saw a new Leinbach 6' at another dealer for $495. The Leinbach may be better built. I haven't seen the Landpride in person. I have seen the cheaper Woods 6' though, and the Leinbach has it beat.

Anything Land Pride is expensive new. But it's well built. I've got a 15 series rake with gauge wheels and it's been tough as nails over the years. The thing to look at is the number of spring teeth and how heavy they are. Also how often you plan to use the rake would factor into what brand you end up getting.

It just so happens I got a quote today for a LR1572. The price was $650 with no options from a dealer in Northern CA. I chose to rent it for a day for $50 which can be applied to the purchase of the rake. It's still sitting in the back of my truck to be returned tomorrow morning.

For what is is worth, it looks very well built and had no problem separating and then moving water mellon sized granite rocks all day today. I think the specs show it weighs ~320lb.

I will buy one some day. I have never seen the TSC or King Kutter Brands so I cannot compare.

I have also been interested in a Landpride rake. I have a Landpride rear blade and box blade and I have been very pleased with the quality of their implements. For those of you who have a LP rear blade, you can save about $150 by just buying the rake section. Both the rake and the blade use the same 3 pth components and bolt to the same pivot pin. Landpride lists the rake component separately so you can interchange these parts.

Since you have a loader, you might consider one of these front mounted rakes. (Courtesy of a M.Chalkey article) FrontRunner (FFC) grader rake (http://ruralhometech.com/fr/main.php) instead of a blade for road grading, cleanup, etc.

I called and that front rake runs about $3300 delivered.
