my neighbor bought a 28hp off brand tractor with fel, boxblade, finish mower, and trailer for 12,700. Can anyone tell me what i could expect to pay for a kubota with similar horsepower and attatchments.

You can buy a lot of things cheaper than a brand name and they will do the job. " For a While Anyways" I had a lesser brand tractor that worked well but I opted to upgrade to a Brand tractor where I could have sevice done to it if I need it. not to say my minor brand tractor was a bad deal for the savings. Fit and finish is just a cosmetic thing which doesn't detract from what the tractor can do. The only question is how long can it do it, and if you want to sell it who will be in the market to buy it. Quality control and dependability are something to look into if you plan on using it frequently to get your work done or other peoples for that matter with no breakdowns. All equipment will falter but some are predictible that they will come to a halt sooner than others and if that doesn't seem to bother you and you have time on your hands go for the other brand and you will most likely be content. Many variables enter into any major purchase. houses, cars. and tractors. Let your conscience be your guide.

I'd expect $19 to $20K. More with a few options. Basing my guess on the 30HP B7800.

For example:

B7800 & FEL $16000
Boxblade 750 Land Pride 66" list 981
Finish Mower 2100 Woods 72" list 2546
Trailer 2500 not sure about this
Total $21350

Prices are current 'sales' prices, not sure if off brand components of similer quality. The unanswered question is what will a buyer pay for a used off brand tractor in five years.

My father in law went off brand (don't remember which) and it spent most of its time sitting because of leaking hydraulics the dealer couldn't fix. He bought JD next and was much happier.

If your concerned about cost and who isn't I would recommend spending the money on a Brand name tractor and off brand out your implements. If the tractor fails it doesn't matter how nice your attachments are but if attachments fail they are easier replaced or modified. Trailers you can find used all over the place for short money. That B7800 and fel is a wonderful piece of equipment. My wife is even pleased we bought it and she gave me some static when I was shopping for tractors. That 4 cylinder motor is so quiet. Just keep in mind the tractor is your main component and some day you will trade it sell it or keep it so you don't want have a planter that looks like a tractor in your back yard after 6 years
