Is it Mahindra USA or my dealer?

I have a 4110 with skidsteer style quick attach for the bucket. I noticed a shoulder bolt missing in the lever linkage. The ones visible from the seat.

The dealer said they had to order them and the cost is $10/ea.

A $10 bolt?! $.35 got me two bolts at the hardware store.

It's not that $10 will break me, but I refuse to be taken advantage of. These guys must be being managed by former Harley-Davidson execs ;-)

Gouging? No.

Why did you go to the dealer for a bolt?

Gouging? No.

Why did you go to the dealer for a bolt?

The dealer is close and I was there anyway. At the time, I hadn't taken the remaining bolt out to see exactly what it was.

I figured it would be in a bin and priced at around $1.50, saving me a trip to the hardware store.

Is that sufficient justification for you?

Don’t take this as an insult, but are you fairly new to buying tractor parts? The prices can be shocking on some things. And as mentioned, dealer prices will be that much high on certain items.

Over half of that $10 special order was probably shipping cost. Ken Sweet

Not new to tractors, but new to Mahindra. Parts for my old Ford and JD's were actually reasonable.

So it was convenient? But you aren't willing to pay for the convenience.

$5 to ship/handle a bolt is a gouge.

No such thing as gouging, not in a situation like this anyway.

I feel that over the past 2-4 years prices on many things have skyrocketed.

i.e. Screws/ nails/ bolts at Home Depot. Something like 5 dollars for a 3/8" x 10" lag bolt; $26 for 5 lbs of regular ol' deck screws.

Screws & nails used to be something I just bought without even looking at the price. Not any more. And, I don't just toss out those extra couple screws in the bottom of my work pants' pocket, either.

I used to say I never get out of Home Depot without spending 100 bucks. That figure is soaring.

Not really, The postal service charges $4.95 for the smallest flat rate box. UPS charges a minimum of around $8-$9 depending on where it is coming from. Ken Sweet
