Tractor
Kubota L4701
I've been a really happy owner of a Kubota L4701, but I need a little more tractor to make moving large round bales less exciting. I've had zero complaints with the Kubota line and have tentatively decided on upgrading to an M7060 cab, 12-spd, radial tires, steel dishes, fluid in tires, add 3d function on the loader, and add a radio. I'm at $48,900. Feels like a good (but not great) price. What do ya think?

Also, I'm not locked into Kubota if there's other options that I'm missing. $45k was the top of my price range....

Mission will be: general gentleman's farm setup with about 15-20 head of cattle, maintain 30 acre rolling pasture, bushhogging, grapple work, fencing, moving bales. Any suggestions would be appreciated. THanks, JW

Welcome to TBN!!

There are many members here with the M7040 and later version, M7060. You'll get lots of good advice.

Kubota tractors are lightweight for their HP size. I don't consider that a hinderance. Just needs to be understood and accepted. With that said, I would consider adding cast iron centers to the rears for the extra weight they offer. You'll need rear weight, especially for Grapple work.

I have a mx5100. Needed a larger tractor with cab. Looked at the kubota 6070 and just couldn't justify the price.
Also with the emissions on the newer tractors, I didn't want the headaches .

I found a good used McCormick CX105 much more hp and much cheaper without todays emissions for less money
I even considered a used 6070 that was priced several thousand higher than what I paid for my CX105 hp tractor

I just bought a 7060 open station a couple of months ago, and I LOVE it! I spent approx what your quote was on a open station optioned the way I wanted it. I'd say that price is pretty decent considering that it's a cab tractor. I agree with ovrszd on the cast centers. I ordered cast centers, two sets of weights, and filled my tires with water, and I still carry some sort of ballast on the three point when doing loader work.

That's a great price compared to what they sell for out here. Two years ago I was quoted $58,000 for that same tractor minus the radial tires and fluid in tires. The price was same as what I had built on the Kubota site on-line and the dealer refused to budge at all, even for cash.
I lucked out and found a used one with only a few hours on it. So far I've put ~180 hours on mine. It has been trouble free. As others have mentioned, get all the weight you can for the rear. A month ago I had to unload pallets of pellets (2000 lbs per pallet) from a trailer with the forks and if it weren't for the 6' rotary mower on the back I couldn't have done it. But then no fluid in my rear tires, and only steel centers. I had to put it in 4x4 just to be able to back up, though. In 4x2 the rear tires just spun, could not move all that weight way out in front of the tractor.

What brands do you have to chose from, as in what dealers are within a reasonable distance and which ones have actual REAL service departments?

What does the price for the exact options you want come out to on the KubotaUSA website Build My Tractor tool? ~12 or 13% off this price is what I've been quoted for a M7060 at a couple of dealers down here in Texas.

Thanks for the price point. As best i can tell, it comes out at about $54,500 on the build-your own, so 12% discount would be about $48,000, 13% around $47,500.

Jhurt's tractor is very well equipped which bumps his price somewhat. He also went with R1W tires. Maybe he'll post a pic of those. I really like how it's equipped.
