Hello to all I am a new member and am using this site to learn about the pro's and con's of compact tractor ownership.
My local dealer has the above mentioned tractor on the lot. It is a used 2005 model with 22hrs. His bottom line price is $8695.00. He will knock off $150.00 if I elect to go with a 52" MMM. Fair?great?keep shopping?
Second question: the "heel/toe fwd/rev pedal. Do people like it? Is it comfortable? the leg position seemed a little awkward during the test drive.
Back in Dec of 2004 I was priced a BX2230 w/FEL & 60" MMM for $12,000.00
I'd get him to price in an FEL then go from there. If your going with a subcut then I'd highly recommend to go w/an FEL also. Their usefulness cannot be overstated.
With only 22hrs it will still have the original factiry oil in it. The 1st scheduled maintenance isn't until 50 hrs so it's "practically" new. I'd ask why it was traded in....
$150 difference between the 54" and 60" MMM sounds about right. Unless space is a problem I'd go with the 60".
I was priced new 05 same specs with bar tires for 8800. 11200 with fel.
I have chosen to not go with thw 2230 because of the pedal. The new 2450 (coming out in may/june) does not have that pedal.

I don't seem to have any problems with it and really like it. But... I'm not the one driving it so if it is uncomfortable for you then I'd check out other tractors to see if there was something more comfortable for you. You're going to own it for a long time and you want to be comfortable!
Like someone else mentioned, the new models are coming out next spring or early summer and they have changed the pedal format. If you have time to wait you could always do that too.
I owned only Deeres until I bought my BX2230.I am used to the 2 pedal setup, but have no problems with the Kubota setup. As for price,I bought the 2230/fel/60"mmm,dealer threw in the grill guard, for $11,200 delivered. One thing you might also think about, addons such as bucket hooks and a toothbar. These will come in handy, and the dealer may throw them in at time of purchase. Forgot to add,I bought mine 1 month ago,so it should be a current price!
Here in Pa. 2 weeks ago new BX2230 was 8050. 60"mower was 1500.The pedal will grow on you.No problems with it.It will just take a few hours of use and you'll be a pro. Red
