Well.... a friend of mine called me today, knowing I'm getting ready to buy a new JD 4520 with a 400CX loader, and told me that he's decided to sell his 4610 tractor with a 460 loader. He doesn't know the year but the manual had 6/03 on the front so I assume it's a '03 model. It has the eHydro trans., 394 hours, and in pretty nice condition, not like new, but it's used. Tires are decent condition. Any idea as to the true value? He's asking $17,500 and he's including a 5' box blade (maybe a $200 value). I've tried a search and found several on different website asking prices ranging from $16,000-19,000.

Obviously since this tractor does not state the lift capacity as much as the 400CX loader, I would probably just keep my skid steer.

At first blush -- that doesn't sound like too bad a price. You know the guy, how he's used the tractor, maintainance, etc. That's not alot of hours, either.

What else does the tractor have? 3rd SCV? Rear work light and/or extra front work lights?

Heavy duty bucket? R4's or R1's? Loadmatch? All the little extra's can either add to the deal or not.

But just knowing the previous owner and having a pretty good idea of how the tractor was used and maintained is a major plus, IMO. (And worth extra $$... against another similar tractor).

Sorry, I forgot to add that it does have the R4 tires and no rear SCV. I'm not sure on the rear work lights. Also I think it has the HD bucket. He said he bought the tractor used two years ago from a dealer and paid $19,000. At the time he bought it the tractor had 300 hours, so he put on roughly 94 hours.
