Price Check Price check 3400 HST

After examining the advice I received on my other thread I've decided on the 3400, including the FEL.

I received the following quote from a central Iowa dealer (before tax etc.). How does this price sound to you

$19,400 includes:

L3400 4WD HST
Woods 60" brush mower
filled ag tires
LA463 front Loader

I could have gotten mine for $16,500 +/- without the rear remote. Is the brush mower worth $3900? If not, I'd say you're paying a bit too much.

The current quote I have for a Maine L3400DT is $16,200 including FEL, $14,900 for a L2800DT. Also $500 off the first implement bought with the tractor. Not any hard bargaining to get that price, just looking at the options to a B7800. Add $550 for R4s and $600 for a remote valve.

Still not enough to get me off of dead center, but did notice they had six or so 3400s available.

I recommend you get a total price breakdown from your dealer. The L3400HST, LA463 loader, and the Wood's 60" mower, and any other extras. If you are getting R-4 tires, that adds at least $400 to the bottom line.

Then submit the numbers here, and we can tell if you are getting a fair deal. Most of the time I find they tend to inflate the cost of the LA463 loader. Also, the cost of the HST should not be more than $1200 list over the basic gear drive transmission. I also have seen the price of the HST add only $1000 to the cost. In my experience of tractor purchases, they tend to jack-up the price of the loaders for their profit. Good luck!

It sounds to me like the dealer has no competition. Was this over the phone or an in person talk? I'd shop around.
