$2500 to jump from 1735m to 40hp 1740m worth the jump?

Thoughts? High, low, about average?

Depends on if you need more pto hp . I doubt the differance of 5 hp would be noticeable .You should be able to run the same implements with either one.

I brush hog about 15 acres 3 times per month - bahia - hard to mow.
Do a little tilling for planting and, to clean up the mess left by the dang hogs
Do a lot of cleaning up atv trails, tight twisty trails, filling up the ruts created by the 4-wheelers (filling ruts with river sand).
Some moving dirt from here to there.
That's about the extent of what the tractor will be doing.

I have a McCormick 28hp now (trading it in) and it will sometimes stall on the bahia if I hit a tall or thick patch.

Is my dealer in the ball-park on the pricing?

I second gunr on this that you'll probably barely notice a difference in the HP. You just really need to decide if $2500 is worth an extra 3.7hp at the PTO. IMO if you have the extra funds and you don't care about the extra price just get the 1740. However, since you're here asking this I'm guessing it does matter so consider that as well.

1735M: $849 per PTO hp @27.5 shuttle shift
1740M: $830 per PTO hp @31.2 shuttle shift

As far as pricing goes that's pretty fair. I paid 23000 for my 1735M if you remove the extra implements I bought with it and my dealer had about the same 2500 markup to add the extra 5hp.

15 acres 3x a month with hard to mow Bahia...what size brush hog? 6? I would go with the 1740 for sure if you can swing it.

I have been doing a lot of research on these two tractors. So question I have as I'd be in the same delama myself is. Are these both the same tractor's just different mapping on the computer's? Just curious if anyone knows for sure.

Dealer here is 22,457 cash OTD for the 1735M w/72" bucket. If your going to spend 26 you should look at the 2705E.
